As the Summer School students return to their homes (and I return to the States), I wanted to remind everyone to please post your thoughts, reflections, questions, etc. for all of us to consider. I am really hoping that this blog may serve as an on-going resource—an invaluable tool in our efforts to bridge and build community with each other—the first step in working together to involve young people in our social change efforts.
It is easy to upload a comment and you do not need to provide a lot of personal information. Perhaps one of you would be willing to translate into Serbian the instructions for posting a comment? This might help others to become active.
In the meantime, you may be wondering “Who is this Boban-guy from Montenegro? He is posting all the time!”
During the Summer School, each of us put our name in a hat and then drew the name of our “Secret Friend” for the week. We were then responsible for writing notes, exchanging small gifts, and trying to confuse our own identity. It was one more way for us to build relationships with people we did not know. I was Boban's secret friend and, like all of the students, he was an outstanding asset to the School. He also gave me a wonderful Montenegran-flag pin that I will really treasure. Thank You, Boban (and keep posting!).
Nino, from Bosnia, was my Secret Friend and gave me some amazing photographs, maps, and other wonderful gifts all about his beautiful country. Don't worry buddy, I will visit you in Bosnia! Thanks for all of your wisdom and everything you added to the School! Stay in touch!
