Many of you now that since 2000, in addition to my consulting work, I have been the executive director of the National Youth Advocacy Coalition (NYAC). And you may have been wondering why there's been such a long break from posts on the blog. I'm sorry!
Today, was my last day in that job and this past month has been a whirlwind of work and emotion. It hit me as I was saying goodbye to my staff and fielding calls from colleagues, just how much more than a job this was. I've loved the work, the people, even managing the politics. Its been difficult at times, but always aligned with my passion for social justice.
After 13 years in this field, I've learned so much about non-profit (social profit) management, about how change happens, and about myself. I'm excited about our accomplishments at NYAC during my tenure and I am absolutely confident that the organization will continue as a major force in achieving social justice for the young people they serve.
I'm also excited to be pursuing my consulting work full-time both here in the U.S. and abroad. We have more than two dozen contracts confirmed throughout the next few months and we're already booking work in 2008. Its truly exciting to be so blessed. I'm very grateful to all of you who've helped make it possible.
The Board of Directors at NYAC released a statement regarding my departure. I've pasted it below if you're interested. Thanks and I'm looking forward to working together!
