MLK Day of Service - January 18th

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: what are you doing for others?" On January 18, 2010, thousands of Americans across the country will answer that question by joining their neighbors and serving as part of the 2010 Martin Luther King, Jr. King Day of Service. Led by the Corporation for National and Community Service and the King Center, the MLK Day of Service will include thousands of projects spread across the country. Answer King's call to service by organizing your own MLK Day of Service project or joining with an existing effort. NOW is the time to get involved and you can do so by following these simple steps: Promote what you are doing and inspire more people to get involved by registering your project here. MLK Day is an opportunity to spread Dr. King's message throughout your community. In that spirit, if your event does not have any available volunteer opportunities, please consider posting it anyway to promote the good work that you are doing in your community and if possible, opening up more slots to accommodate new volunteers. Participate in the MLK Day of Service by volunteering in a local service project. Visit Serve.gov/mlkdayto search for a volunteer opportunity in your community. Free MLK Day collateral materials (posters, fact sheets, tri-fold brochures, etc) can be ordered here and shipped in two business days. Finally, whatever you choose to do on MLK Day of Service, be sure to increase your impact by encouraging your friends, family, and neighbors to do the same.
