Youth Service America is currently accepting applications for a Director of Communications who will:
- Develop, implement, and oversee a dynamic and proactive year-round communications strategy that effectively describes and promotes YSA's programs, campaigns, grants, resources, and materials.
- Support the communications needs of YSA's network of National and Global Partners, Lead Agencies, grantees, and local partners;
- Develop and implement specific media strategies to engage youth from YSA's key constituencies. Strategies should include traditional and new sources such as social networking tools, blogs, etc;
- Initiate and nurture relationships with and maintain a database of media partners; broadcast, print, and online journalists; youth publications; and websites that target diverse audiences;
- Oversee consistent messaging and branding of YSA and its key sponsors through publications, reports, brochures, websites and all external partnerships;
- Lead the look/feel and broad content of the YSA's websites;
- Strengthen the youth service field's ability to leverage media through workshop trainings, tip sheets, conference calls, and press release templates;
- Secure media interviews for senior staff; develop strategic and timely op-ed pieces and speeches; initiate and provide ongoing media training to YSA staff;
- Produce the YSA Quarterly, an electronic newsletter focused on topical themes which summarizes YSA's accomplishments for funders, potential funders, organizational partners, and the general public;
- Monitor, record, analyze, and report on media results to staff, Board members, and funders.
